Let’s Talk about LEADERSHIP

I formerly served as the Psychological Services Manager for Inpatient Psychiatry at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas (CMCD).  In this role, I provided therapy and supervised other therapists who conducted therapies  (individual, group, and family) for all inpatients and partially hospitalized children and adolescents.  During my tenure, I also served as an integral team member and Lead Psychologist that secured the first only Disease Specific Certification for the treatment of eating disorders at a pediatric hospital by the Joint Commission. Local media outlets featured my expertise in working with adolescents with challenging issues:

  • “Cutting: How can family and friends help” – The Dallas Morning News

  • “Getting help with stressful feelings” – KRLD 1080AM, CBS Dallas

I prioritize community outreach by speaking with teens and college students at area schools on the topics of eating disorders, developing healthy body image, and coping.

Let’s Talk about TRAINING

I am a doctoral-level clinical psychologist (Ph.D.) and studied at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (UTSW). I worked extensively with people across the lifespan - from adolescents who were trying to regain some normalcy while being detained in a juvenile facility or hospitalized with life-altering eating disorders to people hospitalized with numerous medical illness needing someone to talk to while they cope with the complete disruption and stress of hospitalization.

I found myself working with teams triaging patients with acute psychiatric illnesses in emergent care settings to supporting undergraduates and graduate students in a college counseling center. I studied anxiety in women with high-risk pregnancies and received training in helping many women through postpartum depression, anxiety and other adjustment to family life.

Bottom Line:

Psychological distress is a part of ALL of our lives. Sometimes, we need the support to not only cope, but to THRIVE.

Let’s Talk about PRACTICE

As a therapist, I create partnerships with my clients. We. Are. A. Team. Our work together can be summed up as a journey towards greater insights, sometimes challenging deeply held beliefs, revisiting the past to explore openly, and forging paths to new ways of thinking and engaging with one’s self, others and the world around us.
